NIAS Unison Branch
Social Media

"If you're always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.”

Posting on social media is like shouting through a virtual megaphone to every one of your members, or potential members.

Social media offers the branch a unique way to connect with our members. Sure, you can use it to communicate with members about issues and concerns, but you can also use it to tell our branches story. Through channels like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, our branch can increase its brand awareness and inform our members of matters and issues that can arise quickly or to assist our Stewards & Reps to getting information properly instead of rumours of gossip that can spread like wildfire over the wide geographical area that we have unlike other Unison Health Trust branches.

We would encourage all those members who are subscribed to our Social Media platforms to be mindful of comments, postings and images that would be posted and ensure that nothing could be used to offend, embarass, distort or be misconstured by both our members and an of the general public who can see the messages.

We would encourage all our memebers to subscribe to our Social Media Platforms and our Newsletter.

Due to recent events and media reports Unison NIAS Branch feel it is appropriate to reissue the following statement ( below) from January 14th 2025. The information contained in this statement in relation to the proposed SE Shift pattern pilot being postponed remains valid. “On Thursday 9th January Unison NIAS Branch officials met with the chief executive, senior management team and other unions in NIAS HQ. We have repeatedly raised concerns about the Trust’s intentions to forge ahead with transformative measures which do not have our agreement and are causing serious consternation amongst our members. Various matters were discussed at length and as a result the Trust have agreed to postpone the planned implementation of the SE shift pattern trial which was due to commence on Feb 3rd. We have made it clear that Unison NIAS Branch do not support this in its current form and that no member should be forced to work this pattern if they cannot do so. This was a No 1 priority for our Branch due to the imminent nature of the proposed start date. NIAS suggested contacting each member of staff to inform them of the decision to postpone and as a responsible Union, we felt it was appropriate that this should be allowed to happen as it was the Trust who had initially informed staff it would be going ahead. This was intended to allow all staff to be informed at a similar time and to ensure they were confident of the factual accuracy of the information. We understand that this information has now been issued and that some brief info was shared by other unions ahead of this. It is hugely important that your Unison branch officials adhere to the same standards which we hold the Trust accountable to with regard to partnership working. We will continue to engage with the Trust on this and any other issues that are a cause of concern for us and our members including the proposed operational restructuring and how attendance management is being handled. Have no doubt that unison will be in every room we need to be to represent our members concerns fully and robustly. Our large membership and significant network of stewards ensure that all concerns are raised through the proper channels at the highest levels appropriate for each individual issue.” ... Unison NIAS Branch have had a number of enquiries with regard to the current GRS access restrictions. Unfortunately nothing has changed so far which is why staff have not been updated. All unions were consulted before the current temporary change to access. The reasons behind it were confidential but completely valid and absolutely necessary. Unison pointed out historic issues around GRS access and confirmed that this measure was temporary and would only be for a minimum period of time. We will ensure this continues to be monitored and staff are updated and full access restored as soon as possible. ... See MoreSee Less
